HIGHLANDERS coach, Kelvin Kaindu, expressed his optimism for the upcoming season after securing a victory against Dynamos in the Castle Lager Premiership season opener, at Barbourfields on Sunday.
He said the team he has assembled was on a progressive trajectory towards competing for the title this year.
Kaindu derived immense satisfaction from defeating their long-standing rivals, Dynamos, with a 2-1 scoreline. This victory held significant meaning for him, as it marked his first triumph over DeMbare and the feeling of accomplishment was truly gratifying.
He proved wrong, all those who doubted his ability to achieve such a feat.
“To be honest, I don’t want to sound disrespectful, maybe those people who were saying I cannot beat them, would have the answer,” Kaindu said, during his post-match update on Sunday.
The gaffer, who returned to Bosso after enduring a period where he could have landed the former champions the glory they still long for, said he was confident in the squad at hand.

He has said before, that he knows well Highlanders culture and being back on the reins, brought in so many memories.
To prove his intent on turning Bosso into a formidable force in the Premiership, at the Dynamos clash, the coach was confident enough to bring in Brighton Ncube and Reason Sibanda, who made their debut.
Sibanda was a marvel upfront and is one player that the gaffer would count on.
Known for the tact of playing his cards close to the chest, Kaindu said all registered players had an equal chance to don the black and white jersey and bring victory.
He dusted off the victory over Dynamos, saying there was still more to be done.
