Kaindu’s arrival sparks hope for revival, cup glory at ailing Dynamos

PLAGUED by a season of chaos and disappointment, Dynamos now face an unexpected opportunity to achieve the unthinkable. Following a dreadful start to their campaign, a remarkable turnaround could be on the cards if they can both avoid relegation from the top flight and win the Chibuku Super Cup.

Their current situation is dire. The club is genuinely battling for survival, sitting second from bottom in the league (17th) with just 19 points. This season marks DeMbare’s worst league run in history, with only three wins from 24 fixtures so far.

A glimmer of hope has emerged for Dynamos, who appear to be finding their form under new head coach Kelvin Kaindu. Since his arrival last week, the team has secured two consecutive victories: a 1-0 league win over MWOS and a penalty shootout victory against Yadah in the Chibuku Super Cup. Although Kaindu was not in charge for the league game, with his assistant taking the helm, he was on the bench for the Cup match.

While their main priority remains Premier Soccer League survival, Dynamos are also chasing a historic third consecutive Chibuku Super Cup title. They advanced to the first round after defeating Yadah 4-3 on penalties.

Assistant coach Thomas Ruzive confirmed the team’s focus, stating that their mission is to secure a “miraculous escape from relegation.”

Kaindu’s immediate impact has seen the defending champions, Dynamos, advance to the Chibuku Super Cup first round. They will face Simba Bhora today at Wadzanai Stadium. This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides this season. While DeMbare have won two of the previous three encounters, their only loss was a narrow 1-0 defeat at Wadzanai, where Simba Bhora remain unbeaten this season.

The arrival of Kaindu has re-energised the Dynamos fanbase, who are hopeful for a major revival. A recent league win over MWOS followed by a cup victory against Yadah has boosted confidence. Fans believe Kaindu’s appointment, an experienced coach, signals the club’s commitment to survival, although they admit his appointment may have come late. They acknowledge the team’s slim chances of avoiding relegation, which depend on winning all their remaining games, but they are more optimistic about their chances in the Chibuku Super Cup. They believe the team will defeat Simba Bhora this weekend.
