KELVIN Kaindu cannot wait for his return to Barbourfields to face his former paymasters Highlanders when he takes high-flying Triangle to the City of Kings for a Castle Lager Premiership fixture tomorrow.
It will be an emotional return for Kaindu.
“I am not concentrating on my former employers. I concentrate on my current team against all 15 teams, not just Highlanders,” said Kaindu.
“I can’t make any promises, football is played on the pitch and may the better team on the day win.”
The Lowveld side beat Tsholotsho 2-0, drew 1-1 against Dynamos and beat ZPC Kariba 1-0 in their last three matches.
Highlanders striker Knox Mutizwa, who netted a brace in a 2-3 loss to Dynamos, is hopeful of victory.
“We are geared up for the game and it’s good that we don’t have any injuries,” said Mutizwa.
“The game will be tough because Triangle have a good coach who knows how we play and I am sure they are well prepared for us.
“I just hope that I will keep my goal-scoring form and help my club win. If we play like we did against Dynamos, I think we will have a good chance of winning.”
Triangle left-back Nelson Meson believes it’s time they get results against the Big Three of Zimbabwean football.
“We got a point away from home against Dynamos in a match I felt we could have won,” said Meson.
“As much as we don’t dwell much on history, we are motivated by our latest hard-fought victory against a good ZPC Kariba side. I am optimistic we will come out victors at Barbourfields.”
Triangle will miss three players — Hardlife Mavundi (ligamentous injury), who scored the only goal against ZPC Kariba, Nhamo Lameck and Graham Ncube.
Team doctor Brian Ziki confirmed the injuries.
