Celebrated comedian-cum-musician Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima and fiery guitarist Ronnie Mudindo have collaborated on an album due for release before year-end. The Kwekwe-based Mudhindo of the Orchestra Vazvamburi and Orchestra Ndoozvo frontman are already busy in studio.
“Kapfupi approached me with the idea to do a joint album.
“We are going to record four songs together for our fans.
“This would be a massive project because we are both talented in our own ways,” he said.
Stephen Manjalima, Kapfupi’s brother who also doubles as his manager, confirmed the developments.
“I do not have the finer details but it is true.
“I saw them together (Kapfupi and Mudhindo) and they were planning on something big for the fans this festive season,” he said.
Kapfupi was supposed launch another album on October 31 but he shelved the plans as it coincided with his maiden United Kingdom show.
“As you know Kapfupi was outside the country but the album launch will be held soon since he is now working with Mudhindo.
“He is also working on a drama series since he is also a thespian. The drama will also be released soon,” Stephen said.
It remains to be seen if the combination of Kapfupi and Mudhindo will catapult them to a higher level.
Though people never took Kapfupi seriously from the outset, perseverance seems to have paid off after hitting the spotlight with the hit “Mai Nga”.
Since then, Kapfupi has never looked back and he continues with his fairytale.
Though talented, Mudhindo remains one of the underrated musicians in the country. His hit song “Zvambura”, is popular in most clubs but he remains unknown.
It is against this background that Mudhindo joined forces with Kapfupi in a potentially explosive collaboration in time for the festive season.
