Kapitapita remains humble

TONGOGARA coach Ignatius Kapitapita still remains humble despite his team maintaining the top spot in the Zifa Central Region Division One league.
The former Black Rhinos player has transformed the Army outfit into a competitive force who are the pacesetters in the region.
Tongogara opened a three-point lead over Whawha and remained on top of the table after they overcome Blanket Mine 1-0 through a McLean McMillan strike over the weekend.

Kapitapita, whose side has conceded a single goal in the nine matches played so far, said they are not yet in a position to say they will win the championship.
“The team has been doing well and I am happy with the way we were playing in the previous games, in which we managed to win seven and drew two.

“The good thing is that the team is showing character and the players are able to take each game as it comes, which is what to expect in a title race.
“We still have a long way to go and the team has been doing well, but we will judge it I think after six games from now.

“The race is on despite us doing well. I believe we need to play the coming games and after the second half we will judge ourselves with results from the pitch,” he said.
Kapitapita, who is in his second year as Tongogara coach, said they are still in transition and building a team that can soon challenge for the championship.

“The first year was for building a team and now we are working on maintaining a culture for the team as everyone needs a team with a winning mentality.
“The players should get used to winning and if we continue with the good form we will then talk of the championship.’’

The former Black Rhinos centreback is also wary of his next assignment as he is going to face in-form ZRP Beitbridge who have been enjoying a purple patch.
“We will have a true reflection after we play our game against ZRP Beitbridge and other teams who are doing well in the league.

The ZRP Beitbridge match will be a tough one but we will be ready and we will take it seriously.
“Although our team is strong we will also get some confidence with the three points we were awarded for our game against Gath’s Mine which came at the right time,” said Kapitapita.
