Karoi appoints substantive secretary

From Noah Pito in Hurungwe
Karoi Town Council in Mashonaland West Province now has a substantive town secretary following the appointment of Mr Wellington Mutikani on Monday. He replaces Mr Maxwell Kaitano who left Karoi Town Council in August last year for Chinhoyi Municipality where he is now town clerk. Before acting as the town secretary, Mr Mutikani was the council treasurer.

Mr Mutikani is a registered public accountant and holds a diploma with the Southern Africa Association of Accountants (SAAA).

He is also a Certified Public Sector Accountant (Zimbabwe) with a Master of Commerce Strategic Management Degree from Great Zimbabwe University, among other qualifications.

Mr Mutikani has 22 years experience in the public sector.

Council chairman Mr Richard Ziki said 58 candidates had applied for the post.

“Karoi is happy that we now have a substantive town secretary after the departure of Mr Kaitano a year ago,” said Mr Ziki.
