WITH the curtain coming down on a very competitive ROK Cup Zimbabwe karting championship, all attention is now focused on the remaining two rounds of the competition.

Round 7 of the championship returns to the Pole Position Kart track at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday and will be crucial for several competitors who are in contention for the silverware.

Recently-crowned 2025 ROK Cup champion, Devin Van De Linde (TonyKart), will be keen to carry on his great form this year and close off the club Mini ROK championship.

He will undoubtedly be hard-pushed by current lap record holder, Elroy Shamu (Kosmic), who has made an amazing late-season charge and remains a threat in the title race.

Jayden Kerwin (TonyKart), currently third in the championship, is only 13 points adrift of Shamu, so close racing is expected from all three competitors.

The competitive mid-pack will see Rayyan Savania (Kosmic), Wade Gleig (FA Alonso), Oliver Broadway (FA Alonso), Engelbert Mudzimba (FA Alonso) and Daniel Sadiqi (TonyKart) fighting it out for overall positions.

Savania has had a tough season with a few technical issues but is very fast and will be hoping to bounce back on Sunday.

The other four young drivers, who are only in their first season of kart racing, have all proved they have what it takes to compete in this exciting class and will be keen to display their full potential.

KID Rok Class championship leader, Sheunesu Shambare (Praga), will once again face a challenge from young rookie Ragnar Mudzimba (TonyKart), who surprised the field with an overall win and new lap record in only his fourth race.

Jake Edwards (Kosmic) will be hoping to have a solid day and maintain his second place in the championship.

The Rotax Class, with karts reaching speeds of just over 100kph, has had spectators on their feet with some of the most exciting racing seen all year.

Zaydaan Savania (Ricardo), the current championship leader, will be hard pushed by a resurgent Seth Rukato (Kosmic) and brother Yaseen Savania (CRG).

The three competitors have been the class of the field this year and will all be vying for the top step on the podium once again.

The strong mid-pack sees Zayaan Savania (Kosmic) having an amazing season embroiled in a championship fight with his cousin Eshaan Savania (Praga).

Rookie Sam Townsend (CRG) is showing remarkable pace in his first year and Eli Pilossof (TonyKart) will be hoping that his technical maladies are behind him and he is able to demonstrate his true speed.

Another rookie, Jayden Lowe (Kosmic), will want to show that his fine 4th position at the last meeting was a sign of future success.

Unfortunately, seasoned kart racer Tawana Shambare has to sit out this meeting due to engine trouble but hope-fully, he will be ready for the last race meeting of the year in October.

Kart Sport Club Chairman Bobby Van De Linde, said:

“Kart Sport Club continues to grow and we look forward to an-other good entry for this Sunday’s race-day at our first-class facilities.

“With the championships heating up in all classes, the racing will be exciting and we expect to see some top-level kart competition from our drivers.”
