FOLLOWING a positive response from schools in the first events of the season, Triathlon Zimbabwe schools commission representative Tanyaradzwa Kasaira is optimistic of the upcoming races.
The season got off with Harare International School hosting the Fun Aquathlon event two weeks ago.
Over the weekend, a number of schools attended the National Duathlon Championships at Donnybrook Race Track as part of their build up to the Junior Schools Series that begins in October.
Last season the series featured St John’s Prep School, Harare International School, St Michael’s, Hellenic, Abbeys, Wise Owl and Springvale House.
“I am glad that they are supporting us. Triathlon is based on the foundation from schools and I hope they keep supporting us.
“We also have a schools series, we have got three races, two this year in October and in November.
“We have got St John’s and Abbeys hosting this year, and then we have got St Michael’s hosting us next year in January.”
The series is meant to develop triathlon from the grassroots.
