Kasekete for African Award

Zimbabwe entrepreneur and renowned hotelier Dr Bernard Kasekete has been nominated for the Ambassadorial Award of Honour where the African Union (AU) will recognise those who have distinguished themselves in various fields.

The award ceremony will be held from November 6 to 8 at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Dr Kasekete is a renowned farmer, hotelier and information communication technology guru. The nomination process ran from August 25 to September 20, 2024 on a platform where people were asked to nominate those that they feel have distinguished themselves in various fields.

The focus was on how individuals have contributed to the “Africa We Want” as African trailblazers, innovators and pacesetters in various areas dovetailing into the AU Agenda 2063. It drew participants both from the public and private sectors.

The awards will be running under the theme; “African Solution, Unlocking Africa’s Greatest Potential.”

Dr Kasekete has been nominated in the African Social Impact Award category in which he will have to fight it out with other nominees on the continent.

He has distinguished himself through his unparalleled contribution to various entrepreneurship in agriculture, tourism and ICT, among other sectors.

Dr Kasekete is the proprietor of Gohori Resort in Mutoko, an epitome of rural industrialisation, which is one of the cornerstones of the Second Republic’s policy of leaving no place behind in terms of development.
