KASI Lunatics member, Freddy Maseko, has gone solo and has released a new hip-hop single titled Tirimamonya.
The track seeks to show the importance of rap music especially in promoting soccer, a game which has a legion of lovers.Maseko who is famously known as Milezy among hip-hop fans, said the aim of his single is to reach out to most soccer lovers and society at large in order to correct certain social myths and misconceptions that people have about rap music.
He said rap music was a genre that needed recognition from society just like other types of music such as sungura and RnB.
“The genre is not all about illuminati which claims that most hip-hop songs are satanic or have satanic effects on people’s behaviour. As a hip-hop artiste, I believe that rap music can also bring about a difference in society, whether it’s in the world of soccer, business or other important disciplines. It’s high time people endorse our music just like they do with other genres without being sceptical,” said Milezy.
The 23-year-old rapper will also dish out his new track at the Bigger than hip-hop concert set for Kudu Bar at the weekend.
Kasi Lunatics is one of the established rap groups based in Bulawayo. It rose to fame soon after its formation in 2010.
Hits such as Tatopinda, Baphi abantwana and Masenza have proven popular with hip-hop lovers. The group is made up of four talented artistes who hail from Mzilikazi suburb. They are Godfrey “R.A.P.Z” Mpofu, Saziso “Subzero” Moyo, Talent “Krusty” Kaseke and Freddy “Milezy” Maseko.
