Katai in senior championships

OLYMPIAN Donata Katai headlines the Zimbabwean swimming team for the South African Senior National Swimming Championships in Gqeberha from April 12 to 16.

The team, consisting of males and females, is made up of 14 swimmers, with Harare and Bulawayo dominating the list. Zimbabwe Swimming chairperson, Zanele Nkomazana will be the team manager while Masi Adi Takaedza is the coach.

Katai, who represented Zimbabwe at the Tokyo Olympics is part of the team that will seek to fly the country’s flag high in Mzansi.

The competition comes after Zimbabwe also participated in the South Africa Junior Nationals (SAJN) last month where the swimmers, short of medals, managed to set personal bests.

Local swimmers have also just come back from taking part in the South Africa Regional Level 3 Championships which ended on Monday where most of those who took part picked up medals.
