THEIR dream is to revive cultures that obtained before the colonial area through traditional dances that were during that era.

Hailing from Zvimba North, the dance outfit is called Katawa Arts group and is among groups that qualified to participate in Chibuku Neshamwari national finals.

Representing Mashonaland West Province, the group hogged the limelight with an explosive Mhande dance routine.

Founder of the group, Tagarira Tatenda expressed hope the outfit will play a part in uplifting traditional dance to back in the days.

“I formed the group in 2024 and we now boast of young, energetic and talented 30 members. Our objectives include mainly preserving our culture and making the arts sector a professional field where artistes have a sustainable source of income.

“We performed Mhande because it shows how our ancestors used to communicate with Zame before whites came,” he said.
