COACH Willard Katsande has left Grand Legacy Football Club to pursue a six-month CAF B coaching course in South Africa, the club has confirmed, amid questions over his frequent change of teams.
His latest departure means he has now left two clubs in less than five months, prompting some football analysts to question what is turning out to be his nomadic behaviour.
The former Warriors captain left Northern Region side Rangers early this year, citing financial constraints, before joining Grand Legacy in the Eastern Region.
However, Grand Legacy president Panganayi Nyamayaro said Katsande’s departure was unrelated to results, finances, or reported interest from Simba Bhora.
Nyamayaro said the two parties mutually agreed to terminate their relationship after Katsande received an unexpected opportunity to advance his coaching qualifications.
“The coach wanted to pursue an advanced level in his coaching career and attend a CAF B coaching course in South Africa, which takes about six months to complete,” Nyamayaro said.
“That was the sole reason why the coach had to make this difficult decision. The opportunity came unexpectedly, and he decided to grab it with both hands — nothing else.”
The club president dismissed suggestions of a fallout, insisting there was no bad blood between Katsande and the Golden Boys.
Katsande’s departure comes at a crucial stage of the season and initially sparked speculation about what had gone wrong behind the scenes. Some critics accused him of abandoning the club, while others suggested financial issues could have influenced his decision.
Grand Legacy, however, maintained that the separation was amicable and thanked Katsande for his contribution to the club.
“As a club, we wish the coach success in all his endeavours. His knowledge and expertise will forever be cherished by the Grand Legacy family,” the club said.
