Kaylite saves dumped kids

Court Reporter
A Harare man has appeared before a Mbare magistrate facing charges of dumping his kids in a rubbish dump allegedly because he could no longer afford to look after them. The magistrate Ms Precious Muzondo remanded Conilius Rudhuwo (30) out of custody. However, Rudhuwo of 930 Icot Farm, Waterfalls has since disappeared after he was granted a US$50 bail.

The court heard that on November 4 at around 10pm, Rudhuwo approached his sister-in-law Ms Nyarai Bagure in Highfield with the intention of leaving his two kids with her while he was looking for a place to stay.

It is alleged that Bagure refused to take custody of the kids.

Rudhuwo who was stuck, decided to dump his kids at a dumpsite along a path between Highfield High School  and Tsungai Primary School.

At around 3am, the kids were found in a rubbish dump by people who were passing by on their way from work. They were found with two bags on the sides.

The two men searched the bags and found a kaylite with a message written on it directing whoever would have seen the kids to take them to their mother-in-law, whose address was written below. The two then alerted the police on night patrol leading to the arrest of Rudhuwo.
