a?It is only through labour and painful effort, by grim energy and resolute courage that we move on to better things.a?
The above words by former US president Theodore Roosevelt are certainly ringing true in the ears of former Highlanders utility player Bruce Kangwa, who seems to have struck gold, following his recent move to Tanzaniaas topflight side Azam FC on a three-year contract.
In an interview with B-Metro Sport from Tanzania, Kangwaas manager George Deda said the player had the audacity to tell Bosso to a?write offa? his outstanding signing-on fees and give him the go ahead to join Azam because he knew he was going to get more Benjamins in the central African country.
a?Highlanders had Kangwaas outstanding debt of about $5 000 and the player was bold enough to tell them (Bosso) that they can always write off the debt and give him the blessings to join Azam. I think the writing off of the debt came to his benefit because Bosso were now asking for more from Azam,a? said Deda.
Word has it that the playeras move was worth between $40 000 and $60 000 and it came with a number of confirmed personal benefits that could have proved to be difficult for any player to turn down.
a?Besides the monetary benefits, Kangwa got a fully furnished two bed-roomed apartment. He will also get return air tickets for himself and his family,a? said Deda.
He added utilities are paid for him including a full DSTV bouquet and the club also offered him a car assisted scheme, full medical aid cover and club loans.
Also as part of the deal, Deda said if the player gets injured he will be treated in Cape Town, South Africa and ifA it is a serious injury he would be taken to the club-owned hospital in Dubai.
As if this is not enough, Kangwa (28) is expected to get a monthly salary of between $3 000 and $5 000, an average of $500 as winning bonus and match appearance fee of $100.

The deal came hardly a day after CRDB Bank stepped in and entered into a five-year sponsorship contract with Young Africans, features all the things relating with the team that includes branding, transport, kits, maintenance of the pitch as well as other packages.
