KEEP ‘EM COMING! . . . Fans urge kid who wrote to Jurgen Klopp begging Liverpool to lose to keep sending letters after three defeats in four

LAST MONTH a desperate young Manchester United fan charmingly wrote a letter to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, begging him and his team to stop winning every week.

The ten-year-old was then staggered to receive a reply from the affable German, explaining that he admired his passion for football but could not grant his request as “millions” of Liverpool fans were counting on him.

But as fate would have it, the kid appears to have gotten his wish.

The Reds, having previously stomped through virtually every challenged faced with this season, are now on a run of three defeats in their last four.

Gone are their hopes of emulating Arsenal’s “Invincibles” season or of tasting FA Cup glory, after harrowing 3-0 and 2-0 defeats to Watford and Chelsea respectfully.

And their place in this season’s Champions League is under threat too, having fallen to a 1-0 loss at Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their round of 16 tie.

Even the one match they’ve won of late they made heavy weather of, narrowly beating lowly West Ham 3-2 at Anfield.

And the pattern hasn’t gone unnoticed

Virgin Media News’ Richard Chambers pointed out on Twitter: “Liverpool have now lost to Atletico, Watford and Chelsea since the young fella in Donegal wrote to Jurgen Klopp.”

And other fans gleefully praised young Daragh Curley for his efforts for the Man United cause.

One wrote: “God bless that kid.”

While another added: “Keep writin’ young lad”.

Another even joked that a statue should be made: “There must be a Michael D statue spare somewhere, we could rededicate it.”

But one pointed out Liverpool’s continued dominance though: “Klopp always the gentleman. He acceded to the young fellas request and nobody can still close the gap.”

The Reds remain an astonishing 22 points clear at the top of the Premier League – and most would still back them to get past Atletico Madrid at Anfield.

The priority for Klopp and Co this season has always been to secure the club’s first league title since 1990.

And barring an extraordinary collapse, that may still happen – they could even get over the line later this month. — DailyMail
