KENYA became the first team to arrive in the country ahead of the Squash Federation of Africa Seniors Championships set for Bulawayo beginning on Saturday.
Fourteen countries, namely Botswana, DRC, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zanzibar and the hosts Zimbabwe will compete in the tournament that makes a return after nine years.
Tanzania and Zanzibar are coming as the United Republic of Tanzania but they are each sending teams.
“Teams have started arriving with Kenya being the first to arrive. The arrivals are expected to stretch up to Friday.
“The powerhouses Egypt and South Africa are expected in the country on Thursday,” said Lucky Mlilo, the Squash Africa Federation president.
Matches will be played at Suburbs Squash Club, Old Miltonians, Christian Brothers College (CBC) and Holiday Inn courts.
The championships were meant to run in the city from October 14-21 but had to be deferred since they clashed with the Sanganai/Hlanganani Tourism Expo held in Bulawayo last month.

Squash Federation of Africa Seniors Championships, which used to be called the All-Africa Seniors Championships, were last held in 2013 in Namibia.
The return of the tournament has generated interest in squash circles, with England based World Squash Federation president Zena Wooldridge and WSF chief executive officer William Louis-Marie set to attend the competitions. — @innocentskizoe
