adminFORMER Nigeria national team head coach Stephen Keshi has distanced himself from reports linking him with Orlando Pirates, telling the Siya crew that there has been no contact between him and the Soweto giants.
Reports in Nigeria have indicated that Keshi is set to be announced as the new head coach for Pirates, though the Sea Robbers still have Eric Tinkler at the helm and have not made any announcements about plans to make technical team changes.
However, it has been rumoured that there could be changes before the start of the new season, with Keshi among the coaches linked with the club.
Speaking to the Siya crew this afternoon, Keshi denied knowing anything about the Pirates link.
“No, I have no idea on that. There has been no contact with me,” said the Nigerian legend.
Like their rivals Kaizer Chiefs, Pirates finished the season without silverware, with the trophies that were on offer in the PSL for the 2015/16 campaign going to Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United respectively.
While Keshi has claimed to have had no contact with Bucs, he did, however, state that he would welcome an opportunity to coach in Mzansi.
“Yes, I hope to coach there,” he concluded.
In addition, the Siya crew contacted an official at Bucs who denied any links to Keshi, and confirmed that they have not approached the Nigerian legend. – Soccer Laduma
