Khama auditions for europe: Last chance for Billiat?

COULD he be kissing a move to Europe away?

The poster boy of Zimbabwean football, Khama Billiat had a stellar last season with South African and current African Club Football Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, a move to greener pastures seemed imminent with reports linking him to various clubs in Europe but all amounted to nothing.

The quality of the dribbling wizard cannot be ignored nor denied, but perhaps the question is:

Is he good enough to make the grade in Europe?

None of the clubs in Europe seem to think so at the moment maybe.

At a Mamelodi SundownsA press conference on 9 January 2017, business mogul and club president Patrice Motsepe said they had received offers for Billiat but those offers disappeared as soon as Sundowns tabled terms and conditions.

He added that Sundowns was not going to accept a situation whereby they sell their valuable players at a bargain price, which is always the case with European teams when it comes to African players. This decision might be potentially stalling Khamaas much awaited move to big clubs in the world.

For all those doubts to fade away, Khama will have to prove his worth once again to hard-to-please European clubs who are currently unwilling to fork out the playeras asking price of R37 million.

The Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Gabon starting from tomorrow will be the stage that the 26 year old former Caps United player will have to utilize as such tournaments are undoubtedly a hub of top scouts from all corners of the world sniffing for talent.

With the European transfer window currently open and closing on the 31st, the Zimbabwean talisman will be hoping to also prove critics wrong after narrowly failing to win the Africa Player Of The Year Award which went to fellow teammate, Dennis Onyango who is also the goalkeeper for the Ugandan national team.

Age is also one factor that is no longer on Billiatas side as he turns 27 this year and this yearas AFCON might be the last major tournament for the player to prove his worth so that he is bought at a price that his current club believes is fit for him. .
