ZANU-PF National Chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo yesterday concluded his campaigns in Matabeleland South by addressing a rally at Maphisa Growth Point in Kezi. In an interview on the sidelines of the rally, Cde Khaya Moyo said there was no development in the country due to the coalition Government.
He said after the elections, the country will bid farewell to the coalition Government and pave way for Zanu-PF to move forward with development.
“Everything was at a standstill. Nothing has been moving at all, no roads, no irrigations, no electricity or any development because MDC-T’s Tendai Biti has been sabotaging the people of Zimbabwe. They are not concerned about the development of the country,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
He commended the people of Matabeleland for supporting Zanu-PF and urged them to take charge of the resources in the country, which belonged to them.
“This has been a tremendous campaign. The response that we received from the people is remarkable and this shows that we will definitely win the elections and we will move forward with development as a country.
“The response that we have received from the people shows that our party’s policies, manifesto and theme are very clear. We do not want to only own the flag and the national anthem but we also want economic freedom and we want everybody to be part of this fight. Let us take charge of our resources and shame the country’s detractors,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
He commended party supporters for maintaining peace countrywide, saying they embarrassed the country’s enemies, who wanted to create chaos in the country.
“I am glad that people have now realised that they were lost at one stage and they are now determined to fight for what belongs to them. Those in the Diaspora should know that the resources in the country are theirs and they must come back so that we build a united Zimbabwe together.
“We are happy that there is peace in the country. People heeded President Mugabe’s calls to desist from violence and respect one another before, during and after the elections,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.
He reiterated that no child should be turned away over school fees in all the schools and no patient must be turned away from any hospital because they do not have money.
He also warned youths against alcohol and drug abuse, saying they were an important group of people that should build the nation and protect themselves against HIV and Aids.
Governor and Resident Minister for Matabeleland South Cde Angeline Masuku, National Assembly candidates for Matobo South and North Cdes Soul Mahalima Ncube and Never Khanye, Central Committee member Cde Rossy Mpofu, Politburo member Cde Richard Ndlovu and aspiring councillors from different wards were part of the hundreds of the people that attended the rally.
