KNOWLEDGE Khuphe and Lawrence Khumalo were crowned the winners of the Flying Eagles Cycling Club Bulawayo-Nkayi Road Race on Sunday. Khuphe won the 70km elite race in a time of one hour 56 minutes with Khumalo coming first in the 40km Open Social Intermediate competition crossing the line in one hour 14 minutes 57 seconds. Sunday’s meet had 26 competitors battling it out in both categories.

Chrispen Kazingizi, one of the organisers of the race said that it was a competitive event, with cyclists racing against the wind. “It was a very competitive race with elite riders keeping a hard and constant pace which meant that there was no room for mistakes in order to break away from the other riders. It was impossible to make up the ground, as the guys had to fight the wind,” said Kazingizi.

He urged Flying Eagles Cycling Club members to attend the remaining races and pay up their subscription fees before the October 31 deadline.
