The championships, which were originally scheduled for April, were moved to this month and had been pencilled in to start started yesterday and end on Saturday in Antananarivo.
But the Indian Ocean islanders shelved the staging of the event, citing logistical problems.
Zimbabwe kickboxing association president, Toni Kamangira said despite the postponement of the competition, their boxers would continue with their preparations.
“Madagascar wrote a letter to postpone the tournament to September. However, for us it’s a blessing in disguise because it was supposed to be in April and now it has been moved again to September.
“Madagascar is also preparing towards hosting the combat games to be held next year in that country so the games cannot be moved to another country.
The team made up of Brighton Tangata, Nicholas Kurimira and Ronald Deketeke have been training together since January, however, Kamangira said they are going to beef up the team since they now have more time to look for resources.
