ZIMBABWE’S top professional golfer Kieran Vincent started his Asian Tour campaign on a brighter note after he finished the first round of this week’s BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE at Royale Jakarta Golf Club.

Vincent is tied on position 26 after an impressive two-under yesterday in the final International Series event of the season among the leaders going into today’s second and decisive round after he maintained his composure despite playing alongside some of the world’s best golfers.

Vincent, who is good at improving with each round, goes into today’s second round trailing leader Gaganjeet Bhullar of India by six shots.

Tied on 26th position the Zimbabwean player has an opportunity to make the cut after today’s round.

Starting off in the front nine, Vincent opened with two birdies before he got an eagle in hole number three. He had some pars on holes four and five before he dropped a shot in number seven.

The tournament is led by India’s Bhullar who struck again on Indonesian soil, firing a sizzling bogey-free eight-under-par 63.

BNI Indonesian Masters presented by TNE has a purse of US$1.5 million.

Bhullar got the lead at Royale Jakarta Golf Club, ahead of second-placed Phachara Khongwatmai from Thailand, American Paul Peterson and Honey Baisoya from India, all in with 65s. American Patrick Reed, Canada’s Richard T. Lee, Australians Wade Ormsby and Travis Smyth plus Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond, the winner in 2019, and Gunn Charoenkul are next best placed after carding 66.
