Killer T proves his mettle in Chitungwiza

Dancehall star Killer Treal name Kelvin Kusikwenyu remains in a league of his own with and continues to show maturity both lyrically and stage-wise.

This follows a flawless act at the Club Upper Six in Unit N, Chitungwiza, over the weekend.

The Mbare-bred chanter kept revellers, predominantly youths, on their feet when he belted out tracks taken off his latest album titled “Ngoma Ndaimba”.

Most of the songs carry meaningful lyrics that saw the mature among the crowd taking to the dance floor in appreciation.

Dubbed “Chairman Dzoka pa- Zvido”, the show was by public demand after the “Chairman”, as he is also known, impressed at the same venue a few weeks ago.

The 25-year-old stands out as a chanter who despite his young age grew out of the bubblegum craze as his new music is well thought out. And this trait places him amongst the heavyweights in the genre.

“Itai Ndione”, “Vakuzama Zvimwe”, “Ndakavasiya Vachichema”, “Misodzi Yangu”, “Kukosha KweChikorobho”, “Kumanikidzira Rudo”, “Vanofanirwa Kutendwa”, “Voona Moto” and the title track “Ngoma Ndaimba” are some of the songs off his album that are causing a stir in many circles.

During the sing along segment of his show, Killer T took fans down memory lane, churning popular tracks like “Makarova Ganaz”, “Officer”, “Handizi Mumero”, “Garai Mavaudza” and “Ghetto Yutts” among others.

His signature “gun” sound, “Po- po-po” ignited the merrymaking mood as revellers imitated firing gunshots into the air.

Because his songs are inspired by ghetto life, it was easy for the Chitungwiza people to identify with his music.

It is clear that they couldn’t have enough of him.

Agent Dollatoh, Ticksen, Nozhafire, DJ Sims (resident DJ) and DJ Malovers also worked their magic on the decks.

Meanwhile, Jah Prayzah obliged his Chitungiwza fans with a performance at Club Joy Centre on Friday in a show which also saw him unveiling his latest album “Jerusarema” in the town for the first time. Fans seemed to have grasped some of the lyrics of the new songs as they could follow him as he belted them out.

Talented musician Potipha Mopo also proved his mettle and the audience went ecstatic when he sand the hit song, “Makandiberekerei?”
