Guitarist Kireni Zulu (pictured) will tomorrow perform at Chitungwiza’s Gute Nightclub backed by the Marabi Queens. Kireni, who spices up his music with humour and dance, is expected to do what he knows best at the spot that has signs of being the next best thing at Ziko Shopping Centre.
“We are going to be performing some of the new songs from the upcoming album titled ‘Rabi wemaRabi’. It is going to be an exciting mix of old and new songs. The show should also set the tone for the festive season for us as a group,” Kireni said.
He said he was excited that one of the female dancers, Dephine Chisunga, had rejoined the group after a one-year hiatus.
“There are lot of changes to the group. Firstly, we have a new attire and one of the dancers who had left the group after she got married is back. We are happy the husband has allowed her to come back on stage.”
Rebecca Munjanja, who is the longest serving female dancer of the group, promised fans a fun-filled gig saying they have introduced new dances.
“We have reinvented ourselves and fans should come in their numbers as we are going to showcase some of the best dances,” Munjanja said.
The upcoming album will be Kireni’s eighth release including “Mupata Wechidembo”, “Vhara Chivharo”, “Panyika Pano”, “Marabi Music”, “Sekuru” and “Mazai Adhimba”.
Show organiser and owner of the open-air venue, Jeff Gute, urged music lovers to come and enjoy the show with Kireni.
“This weekend promises to be one of a kind with Kireni having confirmed that he will be dishing out an even better performance than his previous shows.
“This is our way of giving back to patrons who have supported us since we launched the place as an open-air entertainment facility in April,” he said.
Gute said as management, they have gone the extra mile in making Gute Nightclub the place to be for weekend hangouts and family entertainment.
“Initially, Gute Club was just a nightclub but we have since renovated it to incorporate a beautiful garden area for open-air entertainment. We now have an executive gazebo, a bar and braai area readily available to cater for those who fancy their meat.
“There is adequate and secure parking that is free for all our clients. The wet weather is not a problem because tents will be pitched around the venue,” he said.
Gute also promised different performing artistes on the line up.
“Plans are in the pipeline to have big names in entertainment in the form of Suluman Chimbetu, Jah Prayzah and even (Alick) Macheso.
The younger generation will also be treated to a line-up of dancehall artistes and DJ clashes,” he said.
The likes of Innocent Mijintu, Josphat Somanje, rhumba outfit BV Labien Musica among others have also wowed revellers at the club.
