Forgotten solo guitarist Kireni Zulu returns to the public eye on March 27 when he takes part in the much-anticipated Acoustic Night session to be held at the Private Lounge in the capital.
Kireni, who combines music and comedy, has been keeping a low profile prompting many to conclude that he had joined a musical cemetery.
He shares the stage with Suluman Chimbetu, Selmor Mtukudzi, Tendai Manatsa and Progress Chipfumo. Man of the moment Jah Prayhza is set to grace the event as a guest artiste. Show co-ordinator and Private Lounge entertainment manager Joe Mentro confirmed the show.
“We are hosting a rare acoustic night session on March 27 where a number of artistes will perform. Kireni Zulu is one of the seasoned artistes set to grace the event along with Selmor (Mtukudzi), Tendai (Manatsa) Progress Chipfumo, Suluman and Jah Prayzah. We are going to start early since it will be held on a Thursday and fans ought to be at the venue early and catch all the fun,” he said. He added:
“We decided to come up with this combination as the artistes are very familiar with acoustic sessions. We intend to hold acoustic sessions on monthly basis to give fans variety.
“Being month end, I feel we have given people enough time to prepare for this show.
“We have invited Kireni Zulu after realising that he has been keeping a low profile.”
Sound of Motherland boss Progress Chipfumo promised fireworks at the event.
“I can’t wait for the show and I feel humbled being invited at the event. I enjoy acoustic sessions and I hope to deliver a flawless act at the show,” he said.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Selmor’s camp. “We are ready for the show and we just promise our best. The venue (Private Lounge) is very decent and we are just waiting for the day,” she said.
