Klitschko fights on

LONDON. — Wladimir Klitschko will defend his four heavyweight boxing titles against Kubrat Pulev of Bulgaria in Hamburg on September 9.
The Ukrainian, who fights out of Germany, holds the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO belts. Pulev is undefeated after 20 professional bouts.
Klitschko said in a statement released by his management yesterday his opponent “has an impressive record, both as an amateur and professional. He has a sophisticated technique and I certainly won’t underestimate him.”

The 33-year-old Pulev has stopped 11 of his opponents inside the distance. He won the IBF international title in 2011 and became the European heavyweight champion in 2012.

SAPA-DPA reports that Pulev is the IBF challenger, but Klitschko’s spokesman, Lorenz Eichhorn, said if the champion lost, he would also give up the other belts. — Super Boxing.
