LONDON. — Jurgen Klopp has agreed to become Liverpool manager.
The German was due to arrive in England last night, where he was expected to finalise a three-year deal at Anfield.
Talks have already been completed, with Klopp only having to put pen-to-paper before an announcement is made.
Klopp was the hot favourite to replace Brendan Rodgers on Merseyside, after the Northern Irishman was sacked following Sunday’s Merseyside derby.
Details of his contract have been ironed out and it is a formality that Klopp will be appointed. His first Press conference is scheduled for today.
Since departing Borussia Dortmund, he has taken a sabbatical from football but always had ambitions to manage in England.
Liverpool bosses were keen to get the deal over the line before the end of the week, giving Klopp plenty of time to prepare for the clash with Tottenham next weekend.
He is set to bring in his own staff with Sean O’Driscoll and Gary McAllister, part of Brendan Rodgers’ coaching set-up, set to depart.
Once his appointment is confirmed, Klopp is set to appoint former Dortmund assistant Zeljko Buvac and video analyst Peter Krawietz to his team.
The 48-year-old German, who has two Bundesliga titles and a Champions League final on his CV, has agreed to work within the club’s current structure. — The Mirror.
