A 24-YEAR-OLD man from Plumtree has been arrested after terrorising his family and members of his community with an okapi knife and stones.

Nsukukazifani Luphahla from Jama Village, Nyabane, appeared before Plumtree Magistrate Joshua Nembaware, who remanded him in custody until 15 August for trial.

Prosecuting attorney Vorster Makuwerere, told the court that the violent spree began on 20 July at around 7PM at the Nyabane business centre. Nsukukazifani reportedly confronted his brother, Nhlakanipho Luphahla, about donkeys their father, Moses Luphahla, had taken. Enraged, Nsukukazifani pulled out an okapi knife and stabbed his brother once in the left palm.

The next day, at around 7PM, Nsukukazifani allegedly targeted his cousin, Emmanuel Luphahla, who had just received his wages while digging a foundation for a shop. Nsukukazifani grabbed him by the collar, threatened him with an okapi knife and stole R 1 200 before fleeing into nearby bushes. The money was never recovered.
