TWO teenagers from Bulawayo who allegedly robbed a school pupil in Makokoba suburb at knifepoint, have appeared in court.

Denson Zengeya (18) and Lorenzo Moyo (19), who appeared before Mr Lesigo Ngwenya, were remanded in custody to April 15.

The two suspects are already serving a nine months jail sentence for robbing another pupil.

Prosecuting Mr Mehluli Ndlovu said on March 5 this year, the two robbed the pupil who was walking home from school in Makokoba suburb.

“On March 5 at around 15.50PM, complainant was coming from school walking towards a park in Makokoba when the pair approached him from behind. Moyo handled him by the collar blocking him from escaping and Zengeya ordered him to surrender his phone.

“The two assaulted the complainant with fists. Zengeya drew an okapi knife and placed it on his ribs which led him to surrender the Sony phone,” said Mr Ndlovu.

The court heard that Zengeya and Moyo escaped and the complainant went to report the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the accused persons.

During the same week, they were identified as robbers who had robbed another teenager of his Hisense phone a week earlier.

“On February 28 this year, Zengeya and Moyo allegedly used violence against another complainant behind Lotshe Primary School with a knife in order to induce fear and forcibly took his phone,” the court heard.

The matter was remanded to today for judgement.
