Korean envoy hails educated Zimbabweans, country’s prospects

South Korean Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Cho Jaichel is optimistic of the country’s prospects, anchored by a vibrant education system highly literate people.

Speaking at the commissioning of projects being bankrolled by the South Korean province of Gyeosangnam in Mashonaland Central, Ambassador Jaichel said education played a pivotal role in turning around the economic fortunes of South Korea.

He said he was not only seeing great potential in the country’s abundant natural resources which include gold and diamonds, but also in its people whom he described as the most intelligent and well educated in Africa.

“Zimbabwe has a great potential not only because of its abundant natural resources namely diamonds and gold, but also because of its people,” he said.

“Among many wonderful points of Zimbabwe, the greatest strength of Zimbabwe is its people, the most intelligent and well educated people in the African continent. Like Korea which achieved the miraculous development with diligent Korean people, I believe Zimbabwe is also on a path to a greater future.”

He said in half a century, South Korea had grown to become the World’s 11th largest economy and today it is one of the strongest ICT powerhouses in the world.

Ambassador Jaichel said strong leadership and an efficient economic policy by government enabled South Korea to turnaround its economy.
