ZIMBABWEAN professional golfers Stuart Krog and Robson Chinhoi are expected to tee-off in the opening segment of the Vodacom Origins of Golf at Zebula Country Club in South Africa tomorrow morning.
The duo is likely to be joined by another seasoned campaigner Ryan Cairns who is on the reserve list for the series which will run until November. The Zimbabwean golfers are part of the field that has seen the Sunshine Tour tournament series that has seen over 100 tournaments played at the leading golf courses around South Africa since 2004.
Krog and Chinhoi earned their tour cards for the prestigious Southern Africa Golf Tour and will be part of the tournaments that will tee off tomorrow until Saturday.
The second event, the Vodacom Origins of Golf will be at Devonvale Golf and Wine Estate from September 15 to 17. This will be followed by the Vodacom Origins of Golf Wild Coast Sun Country Club will be held from October 20 t0 22.
The final edition of the Vodacom Origins of Golf Grand Final Pezula Championship Course will be held from November 5 to 7.
Chinhoi has done well in his first attempt in the Sunshine Tour, having won the Zambia Open whilst Krog has been playing in the Tour since turning professional in 2021.
The Vodafone Origins of Golf has a R2 Million purse and has seen a full field of 121 players committing to take part. Cairns, who is reserve number six, may make the field if there are withdrawals.
The Vodacom Origins of Golf celebrates 20 years as the premier pro-am series on the Sunshine Tour this season, and with Vodacom announcing a three-year renewal of a series that has defined the careers of some of South African golf’s leading stars and contributed significantly to the overall growth of the game.
In celebration of this milestone, Vodacom and the Sunshine Tour will make history on the series this year as 10 Sunshine Ladies Tour professionals will compete alongside the Sunshine Tour professionals in the same tournament for the same prize money.
