adminJOHANNESBURG. — Former Dynamos striker Sandras Kumwenda has been named as the 12th worst foreign striker to play in the South African Premiership by Kick-Off.com.
Journalist Lovemore Moyo has been compiling his list of the 30 worst foreign strikers to play in Super Diski.
The Zambian was brought in by fellow countryman Jacob Sakala at the beginning of the 2002 /03 season, arriving from a club with a similar name, but more popular across the Limpopo River — Dynamos of Zimbabwe.
‘Chopper’, as Kumwenda was known, had played an influential role in leading Dynamos to the 1998 CAF Champions League Final.
But Kumwenda struggled at Ri Khomeni Ri Nga Peli, scoring just one goal — a header in a 6-2 thrashing of Hellenic in December, 2002 — in the nine games he started.
Just being forceful wasn’t enough for Kumwenda to make his name in the PSL and after just a season he moved down to City Pillars, where he also spent a spent a year after which he was reported to have moved to Malawi.
He is now a coach back home in Zambia.
