HARARE City skipper David Kutyauripo was brimming with confidence yesterday as he declared that his team was ready to play in what he believes will be one of the best Cup finals the domestic football scene has seen in years.
The Sunshine City Boys date Dynamos in the Chibuku Super Cup final at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow.
Kutyauripo, assistant coach Mike Madzivanyika and club secretary-general Mathew Marara represented Harare City at a joint media conference in Harare yesterday.
They were all immaculately dressed in branded blazers which they revealed were bought at the start of the season but reserved for the Chibuku final.
Having both teams at the same platformm 48 hours before the decisive match, some mind games were, inevitable, at play. “It is going to be one of the best finals this year. Dynamos are a big team while we are also a big brand,” said Kutyauripo.
“What happened at Mandava left so many people touched because the goal which was allowed to stand wasn’t a goal.
“Now we are playing Dynamos, it is a different ball game and I want to tell you the truth, we will have to work as a unit to try and score and unsettle Dynamos because they have a good crowd, if we do score they will turn their backs against Dynamos.” Kutyauripo also talked about the two league matches they played against DeMbare this season.
“The first leg, we were supposed to win that match and they feel they were also supposed to win the recent match and so it is now 50-50,” said Kutyauripo.
“We are raring to go. It is one of the best Cups in Zimbabwe and put us under the limelight and as a captain I will try to push the youngsters to do well.”
Madzivanyika said they will do the talking on the pitch.
“This is a Cup final and Cup finals are games that are really tough. Even though we would like to score many goals, we will see how it goes, we might score one or two goals,” said Mandzivanyika.
“We have done most of the preparations and the captain and Talent Chawapiwa are recovering well but we will do most of the talking on the field of play.”
Mathew Marara revealed they have engaged the services of a psychologist to ensure the players were adequately prepared on all fronts.
“We are taking this game seriously and we have engaged the services of a psychologist to psyche up the players,” said Marara, one of the league’s leading football officials.
“We bought the branded regalia at the beginning of the year and we said we are reserving it for Chibuku Super Cup.
“So, on Saturday, we will be immaculately dressed and our supporters are mainly school children while Dynamos supporters are mainly the elderly, so the future is firmly in our hands.
“The incentive is already there and if we win this Cup we will go and play in Africa (inter-club competitions) and so there is no other incentive which can surpass that.”
