Artistes in Bulawayo continue to be promoted by Dab Three Events which is giving them a great platform to showcase their art through the Kwaito/House Movement.
On Saturday, the House/Kwaito movement returns with its Kasi-to-Kasi journey with an event that will be staged at Isibaya Bar and Butchery in Matshobane.
Artistes who will take to the stage include Boogy, Mzistozz Mfanafuthi, Mawiza, Ladee Noluntu J, DJ Sida, Asante Mo, Novuyo Seagirl and Skaiva.
Archy Hadebe who is one of the Dab Three Events co-founders said judging from the attendance at previous events, it is evident that the movement is growing.
He said this is good as it shows that more and more people are supporting local content.
Hadebe said they continue to host the show regularly to afford the public an opportunity to physically see the artistes performing. Also, it is an opportunity for artistes to connect with the audiences.
“This show has bridged the gap between music lovers and artistes.
Now, people can identify Mzistozz and the rest of the guys easily not just by hearing their songs on the radio.
“It has also given hope to the ghetto youths as they have been given a rare opportunity to watch the artistes in action,” said Hadebe.
The event that has been staged since last year has been held in various high-density suburbs. Asked how significant it is for the show to be held Ekasi, Hadebe said: “Ekasi is where the culture is. House and kwaito music originates from Ekasi hence you hear songs like Entumbane by Mawiza.”
Nothing excites lovers of music more than hearing their role models performing new hits live to them.
Hadebe said this is what patrons should expect on Saturday.
“As always, our patrons should expect new music from the artistes and getting to know them better,” he said.
Hadebe said preparations for the event are going on smoothly.
“Preparations are going on smoothly. We haven’t faced any challenge so far and we want to acknowledge and appreciate Mr Ncube and the staff of Isibaya Tshisanyama for opening their doors and supporting the arts always,” added Hadebe.
For a while now, Dab Three Events has been promoting local talent from Matabeleland through various events.
Other than promoting talent, the company also provides audio and visual equipment, live sound engineers and offers event management. —TashaMutsiba
