Police in Kwekwe have arrested a 23-year-old barman in connection with the murder of a customer following an altercation over change at a tuckshop in Mbizo.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrest in a statement.

The deceased has been identified as Marshal Muyuni, 33, of Marshville, Mbizo, Kwekwe.

Insp Mahoko said the incident occurred on July 13, 2026, at about 6 pm at AM Trading Tuckshops in Mbizo.

It is alleged that Muyuni was drinking beer at the tuckshop when he had a misunderstanding with the barman, Simbarashe Sithole (27), of Mbizo.

During the argument, Muyuni reportedly slapped Sithole on the face before walking out of the bar.

Sithole allegedly armed himself with a knife, followed Muyuni, and stabbed him several times.

Muyuni was rushed to Kwekwe General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“A report was made to the police, leading to Sithole’s arrest,” Insp Mahoko said.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon, facing a murder charge. Police have urged members of the public to refrain from resorting to violence.

“We urge members of the public to desist from resorting to violence to avoid unnecessary loss of lives,” Insp Mahoko said.
