KWEKWE Ward 1 councillor, Alex Senge, allegedly repeatedly raped a Form Four student and inflicted her with a sexually transmitted infection.
Senge, a prominent politician in the Midlands city, then allegedly bought the student a smartphone and a new SIM card in an attempt to persuade her not to disclose the incidents.
He appeared before the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court facing allegations of rape.
Before his court appearance, he had been detained at Garandichauya Police Station in Mbizo.
The prosecution alleges that Senge raped the Form Four student at Kwekwe High School.
The complainant’s identity has been withheld in accordance with legal and ethical requirements protecting minors involved in sexual offence cases.
According to the allegations presented in court, the girl later contracted a sexually transmitted infection.
