Kwekwe hosts schools basketball championships

THE Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Under-17 basketball teams have left the city for the 2023 National Association Secondary Heads (NASH) inter-provincial basketball championships that will be held in Kwekwe.

The tournament starts today and is scheduled to end tomorrow. Players from Bulawayo left yesterday and the team is made up of 24 players, 12 boys and 12 girls. The event will serve as a national team selection exercise.

Players selected to represent the province were drawn from different schools from around the city such as Nkulumane High School, Petra College, Christian Brothers College (CBC), Founders High School, St Bernard’s, Ihlathi High School and St Columba’s High School.

Head-in-charge of basketball in the province, Monica Ncube said they are looking at returning to the City of Kings and Queens with the top honours and also have an improvement in the number of players selected to represent Zimbabwe.

The team is set to return to Bulawayo on Sunday.
