THE 16th edition of the Kwekwe Invitational Karate Championships was hailed as a huge success after more than 100 athletes turned out at Queens Sports Club over the weekend.
Tournament organiser Sensei Shepherd Ziwira said everything went according to plan and thanked sponsor Energy “Dhala” Ncube.
The tournament was a huge success as we had over 100 athletes taking part across all age groups.
In the kids categories, Spiwe Ncube managed to get the better of Mikayla Mangezi as Aiden Ziwira got the better of Thatho Kamacho.
Ashleigh Madekubve won the gold medal against Rujeko Muzura, while Mzingaye Makudo beat Levhuwani Moyo in the 12-boys, and Ardon Marapira beat Tinotenda Kubvuruno in Kumite style.
Zvikomborero Moyo beat Tonderai Mugaragumbo in Kata, and in the girls’ section, Nicole Sibanda beat Buhlebenkosi Moyo.
Lucky Dube was outstanding as he got the better of Brooklyn Bangindza in the kumite final and in the girls section, Shasmeen Yalabi was better than Juanita Kadzombe.
In the under 60kg, Tanyaradzwa Ziwira won against Rowen Nezhou, as Lanceburg Mawachi outclassed Alvin Muderedzwa in the under 67kg, with Tinashe Musa beating Trinity Kotsi in the under 75 kg category.
