by three unidentified suspects who had offered him a lift from Gokwe, police have reported.
Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Leonard Chabata said Mr Langton Madzivanyika, who resides in Mbizo, Kwekwe, boarded a Nissan Hardbody twin cab at Njaku filling station in Gokwe. He said the vehicle had two passengers on board.
The incident happened on Saturday at about 1230pm.
“On that day, it is alleged that the complaint boarded a Nissan Hardbody twin cab at Njaku filling station in Gokwe. The vehicle had two passengers inside. After travelling for about 15km, the driver parked the vehicle on the left side of the road. He got out of the vehicle and drew a pistol,” said Insp Chabata.
He said the unidentified suspect then pointed the gun at the complainant and ordered him to surrender all his possessions that he had in his pockets.
“During the process the two passengers also got out of the vehicle and surrounded the complainant. Mr Madzivanyika then surrendered his Samsung Galaxy cellphone and $12. After this the suspects got into the vehicle and drove towards Kwekwe leaving the complainant behind,” said Insp Chabata.
The matter was reported to the police and investigations are in progress.
“Police are appealing to members of the public with information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the nearest police station,” said Insp Chabata.
