Hundreds of music lovers attended Tongai Moyo’s commemoration gig held over the weekend at Mbizo Stadium in Kwekwe, the same venue used for his send-off before he was laid to rest in Zhombe.
Fans braved the cold weather as they spent the better part of the show dancing.
Peter Moyo, Extra Kwazvose, Slizer, Irene Tigere, Munyaradzi Munodawafa and some upcoming artistes performed at the event.

Extra Kwazvose kept fans on the dance floor with their songs.
They also introduced Natsho Azati, a former bassist with Nicholas Zakaria to the delight of the audience.

Songs that include “Gurajena”, “Africa” and “Zvepasirino” were among the crowd’s favourite.
Botswana singer Slizer failed to please the crowd that spent the better part of her performance sitting down.

Tigere came to her rescue with a flawless act.
Though she was new to the music industry Tigere livened up the event that was almost dampened by the Motswana singer.

Songs from her new album “Nyasha” resonated well with the audience.
She left the stage for the “Young Igwe” who kept the momentum going.

However, fans felt shortchanged after two dancehall musicians Killer T and Shinsoman failed to turn up for the event.
The two who were part of the line up reportedly snubbed the event for a birthday bash that was held in Mbare over the weekend. Moyo’s manager, Sukol Dube, said only Shinsoman had apologised prior to the show.

“I have received a message from Shinso telling me that he would not make it, but we understood that because he was going to be part of the Dhewa Dancehall Show in Harare,” he said.

He hailed other artistes for their commitment on the Dhewa commemoration.
“We are happy that people and the artistes still appreciate the works of the late musician especially here in Kwekwe,” said Dube.
