South Africa’s triple platinum-selling hip-hop/kwaito maestro Kwesta, real name Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi, is set to make his maiden appearance in Bulawayo, as he has been unveiled as one of the headlining acts at this year’s Bulawayo Shutdown gig on 27 April.

The announcement of Kwesta as one of the main acts comes with delight to many hip-hop lovers who have been presented with a golden chance to witness the Ngudu hitmaker performing live on stage backed by a full band.

Ladies who are also charmed by the skinny rapper’s husky bass voice will witness their crush live as he rolls out songs on stage    like Ngiyaz’Fela Ngawe, Khethile Khethile, Thando Lwethu, as well as Love Me, among others.

The Bulawayo Shutdown is an annually held event organised by Harris Continental, which usually takes place on the last day  of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).

On its seventh edition, this year’s venue for the much anticipated show has not been announced but the gig promises to be an exciting extravaganza as a number of artistes that include Mzoe 7, Enzo Ishall, Ma9Nine, DJs Mzoe, Nospa, Eugy, Godfather Templeman and Selector Tanaman, have so far been confirmed and activated to be part of the gig.

Jah Prayzah, who was the headlining act at the Bulawayo Shutdown event in 2022, is also predicted to be part of this year’s extravaganza.

The Nyeredzi hitmaker will definitely look forward to reuniting with his fans in the City of Kings as he last performed in Bulawayo last year in April when he launched his double albums Chiremerera and Maita Baba at Queens Sports ground.

One of the organisers of the event Jordan Dube said the preparations of the event have started and all is going according to plan as they promise fans a top-notch event like always.
