AFTER his exploits at the Go Nature Go Art Exhibition at the Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe in August, teenage artiste Kyle Ashborne has become the youngest animator to qualify for the Quack Quack Duck Project.
The Quack Quack Duck Project is designed to encourage, support and complement the Zimbabwe Primary School syllabus of Heritage Studies especially with Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) as a learning resource in the classroom and at home.
At the age of 13, Ashborne is the youngest animator on the 26-part children’s TV Series designed to develop the skills of creativity, performance, originality and cultural awareness. The initiative was set up by Chaftop Animation Studio with funding from the Sounds Connect Fund.
In an interview, Ashborne said he is honoured to be part of the project.

“I’m honoured to be part of this project. It is a huge project and I cannot wait to start. I hope to learn a lot from experienced creatives who have been in the sector for a while now.
“I’m looking forward to learning from Raisedon Baya and Mhle Nzima as they will be our facilitators.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that won’t slip through my fingers,” he said.
The trainee scriptwriters for the project are being mentored by playwright and director Raisedon Baya while animators are being trained by seasoned illustrator/animator Mhle Nzima.
The project will see as many as 50 creatives getting trained by industry gurus while getting work as writers, animators, video editors and actors by end of August next year. -eMKlass_49
