Labour and Employment Summit opens in Bulawayo

BULAWAYO is hosting the 2026 Labour and Employment Summit, a high-level gathering expected to shape Zimbabwe’s labour market policies through dialogue among Government, employers, organised labour and development partners.

The Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Edgar Moyo, is the Guest of Honour and is expected to officially open the summit.

Among the delegates are the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Judith Ncube, who welcomed participants to the city, describing Bulawayo as a vibrant and welcoming city rich in culture and heritage.

Also attending is the Minister of Skills Audit and Development, Dr Jenfan Muswere.

The three-day summit, which runs from Wednesday to Friday at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), has attracted key stakeholders from across the country to deliberate on policy reforms, innovation and practical solutions aimed at addressing labour and employment challenges.

Held under the theme “Strengthening Zimbabwe’s Labour and Employment Landscape Through Collaboration and Innovation,” the summit is expected to provide a platform for Government, organised labour, employers, development agencies and other stakeholders to exchange ideas on creating sustainable jobs, enhancing productivity and promoting decent work.

Discussions are expected to focus on labour market reforms, employment creation, workplace innovation, social protection, skills development and strengthening social dialogue to support national economic growth.

The summit also seeks to promote closer co-operation between the public and private sectors in developing policies that respond to the changing nature of work while improving workers’ welfare and enhancing industrial competitiveness.

Running alongside the summit are exhibitions in Hall 2A, where organisations are showcasing products, services and programmes designed to support employment creation, workforce development, occupational safety, labour administration and social welfare initiatives.
