Due to public demand, the one-woman theatrical play “Labourer 23” is set to return to Bulawayo Public Library on May 31. Theatre enthusiasts who embraced the project over the past month have expressed the need for regular showcases of such talent.

“Labourer 23” portrays the day-to-day experiences of many women and men who find themselves in unplanned pregnancies, leading to challenging situations, particularly affecting young people.

The play stars Vanessa Tsuro and is directed by Michael Muderere.

Muderere expressed, “The play returns with renewed creativity, stellar storytelling, drama, and thought-provoking themes. ‘Labourer 23’ tells the story of a 23-year-old woman facing an unplanned pregnancy. She must now navigate the complexities of balancing motherhood with her aspirations and societal expectations.

“Will she embrace her new reality, or will she choose otherwise? ‘Labourer 23’ offers a rich tapestry of theatrical emotions and a narrative relevant to both women and men.” – @mthabisi_mthire
