NESTLED in the misty mountains and evergreen forests of the Vumba, preparations are gathering momentum for the Ladies Summer Wind Down, an entertainment and lifestyle event set to blend music, tourism and sisterhood at the picturesque Vumba Gateway Gardens, on March 29.
The tranquil tourism resort, just outside Mutare is expected to transform into a vibrant hub of rhythm and relaxation as the self-proclaimed jit music king, Baba Harare headlines the much-anticipated outing.
Backing the energetic performer will be the Terrible Twins, Diamond FM DJs Lampy and Kritic Igwee and Mutare Prisons Band, promising an afternoon of electrifying music against the lush Vumba backdrop.
Revellers will grace the event, which is the brainchild of Zimpapers Mutare (The Manica Post and Diamond FM) in all shades of brown, adding a touch of elegance to the scenic gardens.
Advanced tickets which are already on sale at The Manica Post Building, are going for US$5, while those purchasing at the gate will part with US$10.
One of the organisers, Eunice Sibanda said the event promises a refreshing blend of leisure, networking and entertainment.
She said the event will be bigger and better.
“The experience is back again. This is a lifestyle experience designed for women to relax, connect and celebrate life in one of Zimbabwe’s most beautiful tourism destinations.
“Vumba offers the perfect setting which comprise cool mountain air, breath-taking scenery and a peaceful environment where ladies can unwind while enjoying top-class entertainment,” said Sibanda, adding that the platform also presents business opportunities.
“We are inviting companies, organisations and entrepreneurs who want to exhibit their products or services to register with us as the event will be a perfect opportunity to showcase brands to a vibrant and engaging audience.
“Interested exhibitors can contact our offices or reach out to the organisers on 0202061212/95. We encourage people to secure their tickets early and come ready to relax, dance and enjoy a memorable day in the mountains,” she said.
The last time Baba Harare performed at a Zimpapers Mutare event was when he headlined the Diamond FM Summer Festival staged along the soothing waters and mountain banks of the majestic Osborne Dam in Mutasa District.
That show attracted a sizeable and enthusiastic crowd as he shared the stage with Templeman and Saintfloew.

Having since returned to secular music after a stint in gospel — where he performed under the name King David — the talented lead and rhythm guitarist is expected to deliver sterling performances punctuated by his signature energetic dances and captivating guitar work.
Songs such as “The Reason Why”, “Hat Dzemurara”, “Generator”, and “Ndakazvipira” are definitely to set the crowd into a frenzy.
Speaking to Weekender Entertainment, Baba Harare said he was excited headlining the event.
“I am honoured to be part of such a beautiful event in Vumba. The atmosphere there is always magical and the fans in Mutare have incredible energy.
“I promise a powerful performance full of good music, dance and positive vibes. We are coming with a strong set and we want everyone to leave with unforgettable memories,” he said.
Beyond the music and entertainment, the event is also expected to celebrate the charm and tourism appeal of the Eastern Highlands, with Vumba standing as one of Zimbabwe’s most enchanting leisure destinations.
Known for its rolling green hills, cool misty weather and panoramic mountain views, Vumba has long been a favourite retreat for holidaymakers seeking serenity away from the bustle of city life.
Visitors attending the event will, not only enjoy top-notch entertainment, but will also have an opportunity to explore the scenic beauty of the area, from the winding mountain roads to the breath-taking viewpoints that overlook the Mozambique border.
The lush gardens surrounding the venue provide a refreshing natural setting, making the event an ideal escape for those looking to combine relaxation with vibrant social experiences.
For many attendees, the gathering will also serve as a perfect outing for friends, colleagues and families who simply want to unwind while soaking in good music and a refreshing mountain atmosphere.
This year’s edition follows the success of last year’s inaugural ladies outing held in September.
Against all odds, on a serene Sunday afternoon tucked in the lush tranquillity of Vumba Gateway Gardens, hundreds of women gathered for what became a euphoric and empowering celebration of womanhood.
The event blossomed into a phenomenal success under the theme: “Bloom, Bond and Boogie.”
Mutare’s finest ladies and visitors from surrounding towns arrived in colourful sundresses and bold prints, transforming the green expanse of the venue into a lively garden of joy, rhythm and sisterhood.
From the moment the gates opened around 11am, the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as music floated through the mountain air.
Food stalls served aromatic delights while beverage stations dished out refreshing cocktails and mock tails, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience.
As the stars glittered above the Vumba skyline, it was clear the gathering had evolved into more than a concert. The event turned out to become a celebration of music, friendship and unforgettable moments.
