LADY CHEVRONS LOSE OPENING T20I

The Lady Chevrons found the going tough against Ireland in the opening T20 International at Harare Sports Club yesterday.

Zimbabwe lost by 57 runs chasing a huge target of 192 as the Irish posted 191/3 off their allotted 20 overs with player-of-the-match Amy Hunter scoring an unbeaten 101 from 66 balls.

Bowler Kudzai Chigora took two wickets for 46 runs in her four overs, the highest runs conceded by a Zimbabwe bowler while Kellis Ndlovu went for 44 in four overs.

The Lady Chevrons could only make 134/5 with a topscore of 46 from 42 balls coming from captain Mary-Anne Musonda.

The 278 runs scored in the match became the highest aggregate for T20I matches involving the Irish and Zimbabwean women. The second of five matches is at Harare Sports Club tomorrow.
