Self-proclaimed Queen of Dancehall Lady Squanda — real name Sandra Gazi — proved to be a cut above the rest at the “Zim Dancehall Celebrity Party” at Club Super Label at the weekend. The award-winning artiste put up a polished act, outshining her male counterparts who performed at the gig.
Lady Squanda sang some of her popular songs like “Sadza nemaLemon”, “Ndinovhaira”, “Tiri Two” and “Ndinewe”, thrilling the appreciative crowd.
She sampled tracks off her upcoming album, such as “Rasta Mukai”, a dedication to Jamaican dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, she said, the way the Zim Dancehall Awards were conducted did not please her.
“The awards were biased since there was a single category for ladies. Aren’t there best female vocalists and upcoming artistes also?” she asked. Lady Squanda revealed that her upcoming album will be out sometime in August.
“My new album is due for release in August. I believe it will make an impact because I took my time working it out,” she said.
In April, Lady Squanda will be among the artistes that will go to Cape Town, South Africa, for the launch of the “Cutting Edge” Dzivarasekwa (DZ) Riddim.
Other artistes that performed at the weekend show are Freeman, promising chanter Ras Pomby, Empress Fina, Crystal Platinum Prince, Kinnah and Ricky Fire.
Seh Calaz did well with his popular songs “Mabhanditi”, “Mumota Murikubvira” and “Patakatanga”.
Event manager Rogers Tinoperekwei said they were impressed by the turnout.
“We hope to host more shows of this nature because that is what people want,” he said.
