Lamar tops MTV awards list

Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift lead the nominations for the upcoming 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. The “Alright” hitmaker (28) has scored five nods, including for Video of the Year, Best Male Video and Best Hip Hop Video, while the blonde beauty (25) has been named in four categories, including Best Female Video and Best Pop Video.

The duo’s recent collaboration, “Bad Blood”, is up for Video of the Year and Best Collaboration. The “Blank Space” hitmaker’s work has also been nominated for five awards in the professional categories, including Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography.

British singer Ed Sheeran (24) is up for three awards, including Video of the Year for his hit “Thinking Out Loud”. Nick Jonas, Mark Ronson, Beyoncé and The Weeknd are among the other nominees that will battle it out for “Moonman” trophies at the ceremony, which will air live from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on August 30.

It was previously revealed Miley Cyrus (22) will host this year’s event. The nominations were revealed on Tuesday on Beats 1 Chartshow though a live stream and fans can now vote for their favourites in a handful of categories online.
