AFTER collecting a string of Man-of-the-Match awards this season, Isaac Landu has emerged as Dynamos’ outstanding performer so far.
And yet, the sense persists that the best of him is still to come.
That could all change on Saturday, when DeMbare face free-scoring CAPS United in the reverse fixture of the Harare Derby.
The Democratic Republic of Congo defender now faces a choice: to further cement his burgeoning reputation as one of the league’s leading centre-backs, or to wilt under the weight of expectation.
Can he be the X-factor for DeMbare?
“I am looking forward to the match. It is one of the biggest games in the country and it is everyone’s hope to be involved,” said Landu.
Landu first arrived at Scottland during the 2025 mid-season window, and endured an indifferent start to life in Zimbabwe.
What followed was one of the most difficult periods of his career.
For six months, he lived in limbo, unable to force a breakthrough.
He then took a gamble at the start of this year, joining Dynamos. Slowly, things began to fall into place, albeit after a stuttering beginning.
Landu initially found himself on the periphery.
The technical team at the time argued that, with French his only language, communication difficulties were hampering his ability to express himself fully on the pitch.
His first appearance offered little encouragement.
The arrival of Aristica Cioaba however changed everything.
Landu’s form has coincided with an encouraging run that has restored belief among the Dynamos faithful.
This weekend’s match will allow supporters, and everyone else, to judge just how good Landu is.
“I am in the right frame of mind and would like to do my best if given the opportunity. We lost the first game but we are looking for revenge and to finish the season on a high note,” Landu added.
